Krishnan Guru-Murthy

British journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy has presented Channel 4 News for 28 years and became the main anchor based in London in 2022. He has anchored and reported the news from around the world; covered wars in Syria, Gaza, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, and Lebanon; and broadcast special news programmes from Iran, India, and China. He anchors Channel 4’s special debates and election programmes in the UK and US, and presents the foreign affairs series Unreported World. His weekly video podcast Ways To Change The World has been running for eight years and he also hosts Channel 4 News’s daily podcast The Fourcast

Guru-Murthy started in journalism aged 18 presenting the BBC2 discussion programme Open to Question, before reading philosophy, politics, and economics at Hertford College at the University of Oxford. He went on to present the children’s programme Newsround and was a reporter on Newsnight before joining the launch of the BBC News channel. He has presented radio for LBC and BBC Radio 5 Live. In 2025 he was made a fellow of the Royal Television Society.
